Customer Services and Administration Assistant    



Based at our Adrishaig Depot, this is a full-time permanent position.  This role is customer focused and is important to the success of the business, as it involves dealing with customer enquiries face to face, over the telephone, or by e-mail.  You will work closely with the Hire Desk Controller in connection with customer enquiries for hires and sales, while at the same time be able to offer general administration support to other departments.  This is a new position within the company and we are looking for the right person to make the job their own.  Start date will be as soon as possible


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Providing support with customer hires, and helping to manage the daily hire diary with the Hire Desk Controller

  • Dealing with customer calls and enquiries – face to face, over the telephone or by e-mail

  • Customer counter sales, service and processing customer orders when required

  • Passing and distributing calls appropriately

  • Opening mail and distributing appropriately

  • Computer literate with experience of Microsoft Word and Excel (training will be given on Syrinx Hire System)

  • Helping to keep the retail side of the Hire Desk / Shop clean, tidy and stocked.  This will be done as part of the supportive role working with the Hire Desk Controller

  • Assume responsibility for depot(s) stationery supplies and ordering same as and when required    

  • Liaising and sharing relevant information with other Ardrishaig depot staff, as well as the staff in our Lochgilphead Yard, Oban and Dunoon Depots

  • Providing administration support to other departments as and when required


Qualifications and Skills

  • Previous administration experience and any sort of customer focused position an advantage  

  • Delivering excellent customer care and good service to all our customers    

  • Good written and verbal communication skills

  • Must be able to multi task and be highly organised    

  • Self-motivator with a strong work ethic and ‘can do’ attitude   

  • Take ownership of the role

  • The ability to be able to think on your feet as the position can be fairly fast paced



  • Rate of pay dependent on previous experience

  • Full time position

  • Monday to Friday – 08:30 to 17:30hrs

  • Holidays 28 days per annum inclusive of statutory bank holidays
